Amy and Anthony were married in the First United Methodist Church in Evanston IL and the reception was held at the Doubletree Hotel and Conference Center Chicago North Shore in Skokie IL. I was extremely privileged to photograph Amy and Anthony’s wedding. Anthony is a firefighter out of Charleston South Carolina who lost 9 of his friends from his company on June 8th, 2007 after they went in to put out a fire at a Dollar store. Go to this website to find out more about the tragedy. There was so much significance to this wedding that Anthony and Amy’s remembrance and honor of the 9 heroes and friends, permeated the details of their wedding. The other detail that made this wedding doubly special was the fact that Anthony’s birthday was also on 8/4, the same day as their wedding. And unbeknown to Anthony, Amy had a second cake made for his birthday, which she had put out right before the announcements were made. So the first time Anthony saw the cake was after they walked in after being introduced. But this was no ordinary cake, the cake was also full of significance. The cake was an exact replica of Anthony’s fireman’s helmet, which has a patch on the back with the number 9, again, in remembrance and honor of their fallen friends. One very touching moment during the reception, was when Amy’s cousin said Grace, and in his prayer he remembered the Charleston 9, at the end of which Anthony received a standing ovation, for being the heroes they are. Anthony asked me to create something special to remember the helmet cake and I hope that with the back lit image of the helmet cake, I accomplished that. So here is a few sample images that I was able to create for them. Thank you Amy and Anthony, for the privilege and honor to be at your wedding, and for the deep significance that you guys gave your wedding details. I am truly blessed to have been there on your wedding day. Thank you.
Congratulations Amy and Anthony…
